Huddersfield Market is Building of the Month

The Twentieth Century Society's Building of the Month showcases some of the finest and most interesting examples of twentieth century architecture, both in the UK and further afield.

The society's February 2009 pin-up is Queensgate Market, the first Huddersfield building to be a Building Of the Month. Visit www.20society.org.uk for the spread: There is also a January 2009 report on the threat to the market and market hall:

Notes for editors
  1. For The Twentieth Century Society's views or advice please email C20 Director Catherine Croft at director@c20society.org.uk or telephone 020 7250 3857.
The Twentieth Century Society exists to safeguard the heritage of architecture and design in Britain from 1914 onwards. One of the Society's prime objectives is education, with education comes appreciation. With conservation, another prime objective, comes the continued opportunity for extending our knowledge about those buildings or artifacts, whether important or humble, rare or commonplace as the red telephone kiosk, that characterise the Twentieth Century in Britain.
  2. For more information, market hall photos and membership enquires for Huddersfield Gem please contact Christopher Marsden:
