||| David D Turnbull |||
Aged 22, David Turnbull was Assistant Engineer for the market hall project with Token Construction from September 1968.
He was kept on by Sir Robert McAlpine and Sons Ltd when the company became the main contractor in early 1969. Mr
Turnbull was there for the completion of all the roofs, he stayed a little longer and left the project in the autumn of
1969.
Mr Turnbull left to work on high rise in Halifax and then returned to Huddersfield to be site agent and engineer on the
Market Street tower block and finished off Crown House on Southgate. He worked in Leeds for a year, did various other
contracts in and around Yorkshire, had a year in London and then joined the Health Service as an estates manager in
Yorkshire looking after the maintenance of hospitals for 14 years.
Out of the blue he was asked if he was interested in the position of Risk Manager at an NHS Trust. He accepted the
invitation and was there for 10 years, retiring at 55.
David Turnbull lives in West Yorkshire.
