I knew from my research that very little of old Dortmund survived the allied bombing raids during the latter half of the Second world War. Over 90% of the city centre was completely destroyed. Seeing the physical evidence was very humbling.

This was the opening statement of the Superimposed City Tours project. In July 2002, funding was secured for the current project involving superimpositions of Leeds and Dortmund, and the initial conception of the project was temporarily shelved.
